Palazzo Della Rovere, a Four Seasons Hotel
Palazzo della Rovere sits steps away from St. Peter’s Basilica. Dating back to the 15th century, the Palazzo is a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture.
With respect for this storied past, architect Fabrizio Casiraghi will articulate design as well as meticulous enhancements to restore the Palazzo’s structure and antiquities within. This preservation-centric approach will extend to the interiors, originally decorated by Italian Renaissance painter Pinturicchio, who came to Rome in the late 1400s to paint frescoes in the Sistine Chapel. Recent archaeological excavations revealed the remains of the Theatre of Nero under the building's courtyard and gardens–just one piece of the incredible story the Palazzo della Rovere has to tell.
The hotel will have an intimate footprint of 57 guest rooms, building off the original building’s three primary wings, secluded and lush gardens, and views of the storied Roman streets below.
